Trent G is an independent, award-winning rapper from Chicago who has built a reputation for elite lyricism, unmatched delivery, and a message that cuts through the noise. He has been a special guest on over 20 television programs across major networks including FOX, PBS, ABC, WGN, and more, appearing to both interview and perform. He has also been featured on multiple radio shows, along with top Chicago stations, solidifying his presence as a powerful voice in music and media. Trent wrote his first rap at just eight years old, and from that moment forward, he never stopped. While attending Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois, he quickly became known as one of the top rappers in the school. Students would gather around lunch tables just to hear him perform. His ability to rap at incredible speed set him apart early, leaving listeners stunned and building his reputation as a rare talent. Determined to turn his gift into opportunity, Trent took a bold step and sent a recording of his fast rapping to the producers of The Steve Harvey's Big Time TV Show. Within days, he was contacted and flown to Hollywood to compete. He dominated the competition, winning $10,000 as the fastest rapper. His performance was so precise that his lyrics had to be played back in slow motion for the judges to fully hear them. In a historic moment, he became the only contestant to ever receive a score of 11, even though the maximum allowed score was 10.
That victory launched him onto a national stage, leading to a performance on Good Morning America and features in multiple Chicago newspaper publications. His name continued to rise as he was played on major radio stations and found himself in the same rooms with artists like Common, Twista, and Da Brat. Trent later auditioned for “Wild Out Wednesday” on 106 & Park, where new talent competed on the show. After his audition, he was told by senior show writer Pat Charles, that he had scored higher than every other rapper and would be appearing on the show. However, that opportunity was later pulled. He was told that his level of raw talent and prior accomplishments made it unfair to place him against amateur competitors. By all outward appearances, Trent’s career was on a rapid rise. But behind the success was a different reality. During this time, Trent was deeply involved in street life as a gang member, surrounded by conflict, loss, and violence. He lost many friends, yet remained unmoved, carrying what he describes as a “Hardened Heart”. It was not tragedy that broke him. It was something personal. When his girlfriend left him because of the life he was living, it hit him in a way nothing else had. That pain led him to begin praying, asking God to restore the relationship. But instead of restoring the relationship, God began to transform him.
As he continued to pray, something shifted internally. The same music he once made no longer felt right. Profanity became difficult to speak. The lifestyle he once embraced began to feel like a burden. He reached a point where he believed he had to walk away from rap completely. That changed when he wrote and performed a gospel rap in a church setting, bringing the entire building to its feet. In that moment, Trent realized he was not called to leave music behind. He was called to use it differently. Today, Trent G is the voice behind “Heal Rap,” a bold movement that blends hard-hitting production with a message centered on Christ, truth, and transformation. He has made a commitment to only create music that inspires, motivates, and brings hope to a hurting world, while still delivering the energy and sound that captures the attention of youth and young adults. Trent is now fully healed from his past, including the relationship that helped spark his transformation, and he credits God for shaping him into the man and artist he is today. He continues to appear on television and radio platforms across the country, using every opportunity to share his story, his faith, and his music. Every song carries purpose. Every message carries weight. And every performance is driven by a mission to reach those who feel lost and give them something real, powerful, and impossible to ignore.
